in 24 hours....

My life as I know it (with the addition of a house infested with brown recluse spiders, my in laws, and my little sister) will be  back to normal. After 26 hours in the air and in airports, the disappearance of a bag holding my D70 and all memory capturing equipment, the re-aquantaince to my car that has missed me for the past 9 months, the welcoming home of my husband, and a new house, I think I'm ready to start anew.

I might call my blog learn to swerve, but its something I am SOOO bad at. I've cried my eyes out stressed, thrown up, yelled, cried some more, and dwelled in a hotel, and more things that would shock you. But tomorrow, with the landing of one aircraft. I Ruth Akers, will be single no more.

(fear not I found the missing bag and the D70 is back in photo shooting form, the next post I make will include my husband. 365 days is a long time, but you know what, it's almost over and I couldn't be happier=)

So.  I might be 2 days away from moving, without internet service sitting in the Carls Jr. Parking lot using the free wifi ( which until last week I pronounced wifey, ) but that does not mean I can't be a little excited about.... this....

American Crafts

Yeah thats me...  I am totally stoked about this. This was the one company at CHA that I was really thinking I could make work. When I saw the DT call I knew I had to try out.

I'm still in shock over this. I love their stuff and hope they don't regret picking me.

I have a total of 40 boxes ready for shipment, 6 FULL size suitcases (when I say full size I mean, let's hope that they make an exception to the 50 pound rule so that i don't have to pay extra. If not, there will be alot of baggage unloading on my part.  DId I fail  to mention the 648.00 Cell phone bill I have to pay. (Courtney, I blame you =). Apparently when they say .10 a minute for overage, They mean it... huh funny how that works.

Well enough about Ruth's spending habit. Carl's kicking me off the free wifi. I'll talk to you girls in a few days... Thanks for your sweet comments. You guys are the best!!

An ounce of prevention...

Is worth something, although my memory fails me as to what. I however am fully preventing anymore baybays this year as I went to the Dr. Today to get my birth control shot. Yeah. Don't I wish it were that easy, seriously, the pain of child birth is so much more doable than trying to get an appointment on base. I love the military for many things, the ease of medical care, SOOO not one of them....

4 hours, two pregnancy tests, one fainting spell, and 2 tech school reunions later.(I tried to tell him I haven't been with a man since my DH left, apparently PLENTY of women end up with babies while remaining faithful to their hushbands 30000 miles away. I'm happy to report, I am not great with another man's child)

I am sick as a dog on my ortho patch though,  I hate birth control. Hate it. And if I thought I would be able to be the mom I should be to 4, I'd give it up in a heartbeat, but 3 is good for me, for now, so hot flashes, nausea and headaches are the word of the day. The things we women go through.

I couldn't get the shot, although I am willing to bet he gave it to the women after me just to spite me. I picture in my mind that as soon as I left he pulled out his lifetime supply of depo shots and happily began shooting up anyone that walked into his office. I have issues that need tending.

Oh well, I am not going to worry about it. I'm set. I got a few layouts picked up for some stuff today so I'm a little stoked, some of my FAVS, and I have a few more boxes packed ready to go. the closer it gets to D day, the more I stress out, did I do this, did I do that. (((am I still this fat?))))

Ugh. The woes. The woes. TIs no bueno. I havent taken a photo or scrapbooked in 2 weeks, so I am starting to go nuts.

My kids are going crazy, even the dog senses change. Speaking of dogs. SAw a bear today. WHOA. Scared much. thank goodness for that birth control patch. Made me feel invincible. That and the fact I was in the large and in charge car. Ahh. Its a wonderful life. One I'm proud to call my own =)

TEach 'em young...

THank you for all your sweet words about my last post. I once again had an epiphany that being negative will solve nothing, and that while I still have many things I want to do, I could die happy today. Let's pray I won't.

In other news, I took my kids to Chuck E cheese right, no harm no foul, however, what gets my goat,there was 1, count them, 1 ride, 1 game, and 12 machines that teach your kids to gamble!!!! What the hey?

SO trying to teach my four year old that its ok to give up your 1 token for a chance at 15 tickets, is totally ok, all while trying to combat gambling. What gives? what happened to fun rides and things that they could use their tokens on. We're talking 4 and 3 year olds. I was a little irked. Needless to say after I dropped $100 and left there with 4 suckers and a handful of smarties, I decided next time I'd hand them each a $50 and take them to toys r us. Money well spent, and rather than learn to gamble they learn to look cute and get money handed to them. I see nothing but win win ;)

Moving is going well, and i have filled 20 USPS flat rate boxes so far and I still have stuff to pack. i think this is going to cost me more than I planned.

I am getting a little frustrated at all the opporrtunites that seem to be popping up just as I have to go into hibernation mode. This happened last year when Mike left and everyone and their mom came out with a DT call.  I know I  have other things to focus on now rather than scrapbooking, I just really wanted to do the Amercian crafts DT call and I feel like my entry was SOO less than stellar.

If its meant to be it will happen. Thats my new motto. motto, whats a motto? nothing, whats amotto with you.  There's a movie line for every bad situation.

SPeaking of Movies... TAlladega nights, although a bit off, was funny, seriously funny. My little prodigal son brother  took me to it last night and we spent some time together, he's such a punk but I can't help but love him.

I'll probably be around alot less until after mike gets home, but I'll be sure to keep you all posted of his arrival! Thank you all for your support, friendship, and blog views, I love you guys. sniff sniff... I'm Audi   ;)

Finally....

I can say:

I'm happy with my weight.

I am a good mother.

I have a testimony.

I know my parents did the best they could for me.

I am not addicted to diet coke.

I am healthy.

I have achieved everything in my scrapbookig career that I have set for myself.

I don't need to be accepted by everyone, those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

My husband is  my everything, no ifs ands or buts about it.

I don't have to be perfect to be happy.

This today is the beginning of a better tomorrow.

I am not perfect. But I am perfectly happy with what I am.

Its a good feeling.

ANd with that. We are a family again.

So my little "I can't follow the rules so I got kicked out 2 years ago, brother AJ," has  once again made his presence known in the house. Now, don't get me wrong, I love him to death. He is the funniest potlicker ever. He's a great person, he just gets found lacking in the scrupples department. I mean how hard is it to NOT smoke weed in your bedroom? Or check in when you leave? Really?

I only have 2 weeeks here and I want to make them good, but the tensions are running high again due to AJ wanting to take over my 17 year old little brothers brain, and anyone who is familiar with teen behavior knows this is not a hard thing to do. My poor parents feel like failures with some of us, I just know it. I have 3 kids and all I can think about is what I want for them and how to be the best mom I can be. And when your children make thier own choices and don't do what you planned, It has to be hard.

They will get through it, it just brings home even more my desire to do the best I can by my kids and not let them down.

Im feeling that pressure even more now than ever. I see how easily my son is swayed by the things of the world. he's a good kid. A "cool" kid, just maybe too much like me. Not enough power to say no.

Sorry for the deep posts lately. I just have alot on my mind, and I see my role as a mother becoming the thing in my life I have to focus on. so  many examples present themselves to me and I have to be able to stand up and be something my kids can count on.

Is it obvious its a down month? I have no desire to do anything. Anything. Hopefully when Mike gets home I can shake this funk. A few more weeks and some fun things can be shared. Can't wait maybe that'll help.  Have a good day girls. Im gonna try.

IS this thing on?

SOO. from the concerned emails I gather some of you are worried I have fallen and can't get up. Not quite the case. I actually took a few days to go to a wedding and (SHOCK) thought nothing about scrapbooking or anything that I had to do when I got back. I got to hang out with people from back home and take a break so to speak from the things that have been stressing me out. It was SOO much fun. I just relaxed. Got to remember why it was I love these girls. ITs those friends that you can not talk to for years and then see and just fall right back where you left off. A few pounds and a few years older mind you. (my friends Shanna and Britney, who actually does not have crossed eyes. and me and Mary Mary would kill me if she knew I posted this. ) Bethany was the one getting married!) I got to go see the places that had been destroyed by the hurricane . Places I had no clue could be brought down that were wrecked beyond repair. SO many memories came flooding back being there. I love the southern people. I love the landmarks, the ocean. I can say I DO NOT love the heat. Never have. Never will. After that break I am ready to go back to full time mommy and caregiver, but it did make me realize that  I don't have to only be defined by scrapbooking or being a mom. BOth are things I love and will continue to work my hardest at, I just think I may go back to school or pursue other avenues too. I am more than the sum of my parts. Who'da thunk?

SO thank you to those who worried about me. I am alive and well, and will be back to posting and making layouts as soon as I get home. Only 2 more weeks until mike is back. I have ALOT to do =)

Too Funny.

I have no clue how that last post was made. No clue. I signed in, had nothing good to say and signed out. Yet today. I have 6 comments. woo hoo. Now I know how to get comment love. Completely pointless posts with meaningless smileys. Seriously though. It was accidental I think Aubree  may have typed it when I was signed in. . I wondered why people kept asking me if I was ok? Isn't that funny?

I am more than ok. Things are good. Getting ready for another week long trip, This time I have a power of attorney in place for my kids and am ready for any disaster that might occur. (I also let it be known that if anyone gets hurt this time family visits may cease and desist by order of my husband!)

True story. Today I went to get my license renewed (I forgot my marriage license last week so I Was unable to get it done Friday) And the line was like 50 people, so I had to wait for 3 hours. WELL in front of me, was the sweetest 100 year old Asian woman with no teeth. It came time to get my photo taken and the guy was like step on up Ruth. Well. the cute woman stepped on up, so  figured she was named Ruth too.( Wouldn't be the first one in her age group to share my name, ) SO she gets her photo taken and I wait patiently then he goes, Then you. Then you, I think he means its your turn so I step up and smile. Little did I know the sweet toothless woman was named Thinyou or something similar, and we were taking each others photos. Needless to say I had to turn in my ID with the birthday of 1917, and weight of 98 pounds. It actually was a cute photo too! Isn't that always the way it is!

   So I think we all know I am addicted to diet coke, but I have officially made it known that starting Monday of next week (when my current case is out) I am giving up the can. And the fountain. Diet coke that is. I will do whatever it takes. I will be strapped into the bed if I have to, but I will give it up. So many people warn me of the dangers, and honestly, I don't need it! I spend $4 a day on diet coke, thats $120 a MONTH! Thats a quickutz alphabet people! I am giving it up. You heard it here.
